Radiology Consultants offers CT Colonography, the latest in colon cancer screening. During the procedure, a scan is taken of the abdomen and pelvis. The scans produce 3D images of the colon that can be inspected for polyps and tumors.
We also perform the traditional colon cancer screening. This scan requires an injection of barium into the rectum. X-rays are then taken to produce images of the colon. Problems can still be detected, but the results aren’t as accurate as CT Colonography.
Both scans require a clear liquid diet and laxatives the day before.
