3D Mammogram (Breast Tomosynthesis)

The new frontier of breast health comes in the form of Breast Tomosynthesis. Sometimes called 3D Mammogram. Compared to traditional mammography, the 3D alternative takes a closer look into the breast tissue. This increases cancer detection up to 40%. This new technology, introduced to the US in 2011, can find smaller cancers much earlier in all different kinds of breast tissue. This allows clear detection in many more groups of women. This includes younger patients with dense breast tissue. A 3D Mammogram decreases by 15% the chances that you will be called back into the office for a re-test because the original results were unclear or suspicious. This reduces your anxiety and stress in an already sensitive situation. The new tests take approximately the same amount of time as the traditional mammogram.
